Roof and door seal
Discussion
Finally got round to replacing the 10 year old seal last week. Delighted to be able to drive home in a civilised car which didn't squeak on every bump and where the wind noise was reduced. BUT after a lot of driving this weekend the squeaks are back from the roof, and it's really peeing me off!
I remember reading on here that someone had inserted additional tubing into the seal, presumably to make it more resistant to compression. I spent some time wandering around Halfords yesterday but couldn't find anything that would work, so has anyone any suggestions please?

The other solution to stop the roof squeaks is some UHMW tape along the rear edge of the roof, or the rear roof channel on the car. Something like this: 3M UHMW Tape

What's the best thing to clean up the channel before applying any kind of tape without damaging the paint ? I've applied self adhesive loop velcro but it comes off fairly quickly. Also need to reglue the U-channel strip on the rear edge of the targa panel, any suggested adhesives ?

When I replaced UHMW tape on mine I used P21S paintwork cleanser before applying this tape A good contact adhesive can be used on the U-channel strip.
Agree the tape really makes a difference, also use it on the rear screen - top and bottom, where it's more durable than just silicone spray. No the issue on mine and always has been is a squeak/rattle from the header rail.
The new seal worked wonders for the first day, so working on the assumption it's getting compressed I'm now looking into sliding some silicone washer hose into the profile to make it more stable.
eta: will update on how it works out.
