Managed to catch a high kerb and smash the pepperpot front grille on my Mk1. I know it divides opinions but it is one of the features that makes me prefer the Mk1 over Mk2. Question now is, for the extra stability should I replace it like-for-like or change to Mk2 style (with or without splitter) ? Anyone fitted the fibreglass one from Fibron ? Would seem to make sense to make it stronger than the original plastic one.

I feel for you..happened to me twice before I decided to switch to the MK2 grill, although I didn't bother with the front winglets, as you just as likely to catch them on the kerb when parking! check with TVR Central, they do them.

Did it damage the rest of the grill? As I understand it, the winglets bolt on to the underside of the grill?

Central did mine when the grille fell under the car and ate itself.

The cheesegrater would have been more expensive to paint reflex apparently (difficult to get into the holes so more paint used to cover the similar surface area)

I got the MK2 with winglets. I was a fan of the cheesegrater, but I thought it looked FAB.

Personally the MK2 grill is not for me. The previous owner of my car sprayed the cheese grater black, i think that is the perfect balance. Biased of course.

Actually it wasn't the curb, it was a sodding ratcatcher box that was green, buried in the grass and hard up against a fence post so the grille had nowhere to go. Damned annoying when I'd only popped in to a shop for a £5 refund. I've araldited it together for now. Think I'll stick with the Mk1 style when I get around to replacing it. To me it does define the original design along with the "commando" backside.
