Hi all, despite working perfectly, my passenger door now does not open from inside or out. When I push the open button the window drops, but there is no click or any reaction at all from the solenoid.

Any idea what I should look at first?

Thanks,
TC

Mine was doing this, but intermittently. Power repaced the encoder and re soldered some connections which sorted it.

Does it eventually work if you keep pressing the release button a few times? Mine does this when it hasn't been used for a while and I think the solenoid needs swapping.

Has it been washed or wet recently?

Have only pressed it maybe 5 times and did not work. I haven't driven it for well over a month so I plugged the accumate in to top the battery up- it may be down to voltage drop but the drivers door and boot work fine! As the window works, I assume it must be related directly to the solenoid or the wiring to it, I'll do some research on how to access the solenoid and see if I can test it.

I'm sure I read somewhere that the door cards have screws along the bottom holding them on, but I could find no evidence of any screws or fixings on mine (early mk1), is there an easy way to remove the trim?

Try pressing it repeatedly or just hold it pressed. It works on mine.

The allen screws are in the bottom of the door pocket when viewed down from above. There should be 3.

Can you hear the relay clicking when it tries to fire the solenoid? Check the fuses/relays if you cannot. You won't need to remove the door card as your door button sounds like it works. I had a solenoid kill itself - burn out - a month or so after I bought my Tuscan. Procedure for replacement is here:

No clicking- thats a very good point, I noticed it after I removed the alarm module for re-programming so it is possible I knocked a fuse or relay in the drivers footwell, will check that first, thanks!

Mine did this on my tamora, couldn't open the passenger door from inside or out (electronically). I bought a new solenoid, took the dor mechanism off, and before I changed anything, it started to work again, and has worked ever since!

Am sure that at times, these cars like to play with you!

I keep a wooden ruler in the car. When the passenger's door plays up I lift the ashtray and give the wiring loom for the doors that sits behind it a nudge.

Generally works for me!

After being fully charged, it works fine! Either the voltage dropped to lower than I thought or there is a bad earth/connection which is not helping the slightly lower voltage.

Either way thanks for the suggestions and help smile
