Ouch

Precisely why I don't take mine on a track. Is it just me or was that traffic density a bit mental considering how tricky that corner was ? The burgundy japthingy drifter towards the end was an absolute loon - deserved to stack it.

Holy crap. I hope the TVR days at Cadwell are a little more gentile than that! I have never been on track and after seeing that I know why.

Track sessions during shows at Castle Combe are always very busy, people can buy just one 15 minute session.

It's also a very unforgiving circuit.

I havent done that many track days but I would say the marshalling at Castle Combe on the day visited was not as good as the others I have experienced.

Did they open up a busy A road just outside the track just for kicks? It Seems nuts too me, lots of talent being outweighed very easily from what was on camera there, I'm not saying I could do better but people fish tailing up a straight just screems get them off the track to me.
I'd have thought the Tuscan won't be beaten up too badly, it was an even impact down the side of the car.

Do you mean the drifters? Other than that I only saw people correcting mistakes after dipping a wheel off track.

I've done Porsche organised track days at Castle Combe and general ones at Bedford and have never seen it like that. It has always been very well organised, limited cars on track at any time and definitely no racing or cars coming off apart from the odd mistake (one of them being me once).

Was that a normal track day or something else - looked bloody awful!

No, I mean people like the BMW 30 seconds in, another BMW and a Seat at about 2 minutes going in too quick, then flying across the track after correcting, over correcting and spinning. I'm sure there are others but you get my point I hope.

That's a lot of incidents and near misses for a track day.

It's not a track day. It's an "experience day".

Basically, turn up, pay some cash, do a frantic 15 minute session with far too many cars on track after a 2 minute briefing and watch the mayhem.

Good for spectators. If you like crashes.

Shocking driving there, thought it was the entrance to the Halfords out of town car park.

Unlike any other track day I've been to at Castle Coombe! Been to quite a few car club and other events there over the years and they have always been well controlled - limited number of cars on track, black flagged if overtaking or undertaking on corners - that looked like total mayhem!

Mind you, I did do a 360 spin in an Esprit V8 at that very corner once (too fast in, lift off oversteer). And on another occasion when I was driving my 450SE, an F40 spun in front of me and went off into the in-field. I did enjoy that.biggrin

Exactly this - you tend to get a lot of boy racers in Jap cars at this sort of event who think as they have Imprezas, Evos etc they can defy the laws of physics. Lots of vids from these on Youtube.
