Look Dani, as I said, I was happy to send him mine (which was broken with lines) as a test bed. I couldn't contact him and he didn't take up my offer.
If you make contact with him, I am happy to send my broken LCD as a "test bed", if he can use it to develop a better solution.

I guess like all things, the financial incentive needs to be there, and, as already pointed out, the only way to maybe do this is for someone from the Tuscan forum to coordinate a "group" buy. The Tamora and T350 purchasers of LeeT350's screens all say what a massive improvement it is.

Thanks, I am happy to be part of a group. Shall I create a thread or would you be happy to do so? I'm sure we could get at least 5-10 people, no? I changed my contrast today to level 6 as that seemed the best for me. Pacer will be calling me tomorrow though. I'm pretty sure it's way cheaper than Racing Green but will let you all know.

I had the same fading problem on my LCD dash where I had to have the contrast set to completely black when you started the car and it would gradually become legible as things warmed up - to the point where if it got too hot it would fade away to nothing.

I had this resolved by Paul Smith of PS Electronic Solutions http://pselectronicsolutions.co.uk/contact.html

I sent him the complete dash i.e. the gold face with all the circuit boards attached and the LCD still in place. Paul contacted me to say that he found a "fractured SMD resistor in the contrast circuit" - he replaced this and returned the dash to me and it has been absolutely fine since (about a year now) The LCD contrast is set somewhere in the middle and it is completely legible from the moment you start the car and doesn't fade once hot.

This is one of the best fixes I have had done as it really used to wind me up and it was only about £50 excluding the cost of sending it to Paul by registered mail.

Hope this helps.

Paul does a lot of great work on the TVR electrics but it does require removal and sending the part off which means you're without the car.

Lee's replacement (and upgrades) screen for the Tam etc... is £70 for a new screen so you can swap them over at your convenience. Oh and he's done a detailled 'How to' installation guide that he sends with it.

The first point may be mute if your doing a rebuild but the second maybe more useful for the remainder.

I suggest you put a feeler out as to interest, source a spare dash and then contact Lee to see what his work load is like.

Hi Dani / All

Dani I have your email and will respond but cant promise anything. As mentioned above I do these in my spare time which to be honest is very limited as I have a day job and a family which both take up almost all my time. Also my wife moans!!! plus the more time I spend doing these things the less time I get to drive my car so its a fine balance.

My comms as mentioned can be slow at times especially if i'm away or busy and often a lot of emails end up in various spam folders especially now PH has changed the format for sending them from the advert.

As a heads up its not just about getting a screen or a dash etc there is a lot more to it. When I did the one for the T cars I spent days / weeks of spare time on it but I had my car to plug into to test / develop etc. Even with a spare display from a Tuscan or a dash pod (nearly bought one once off ebay just for this) I have nothing to plug it into to work on testing how to drive the backlight / lcd and how it looks etc.

I am still doing them for the T cars and would love to be able to do one for the Tuscan as I can see its an issue but you will have to bear with me. I will try and do some research and obtain some parts if I can and also a Tuscan owner near me who might lend me his car if required.

Sorry its not 100% what you want to hear but there may still be some hope as like above I have done nearly 100 for the T cars with equates to a lot of happy owners :-)

Also I go on hols in a few weeks for a well earned break!! so wont be on my email.

Cheers

Lee

Thanks Lee. That's great and I really appreciate your response. I've just ordered another screen so I'll be fine for a while, but, certainly looking forward to seeing what you can do. More than happy to send you the other one if you need it as a test, obviously you suggest having the car but that wouldn't be possible for me as it's my only car.

Have a well deserved break Lee and contact us when you have the time for us Tuscaners.

Dani.

OT;

Tuscandani, looks like I'll be going to the Surrey meet on Thursday and meeting up with Phazed along the way. Are you coming. Can swing through Chipstead on the way to meet Phazed.
