Tuscan Bonnet Conversion
Discussion
I kept mine on but very losely, it is secure without them but I forgot to bolt them down yesterday and didn't hear any problems. Allan provides very good nuts, bolts, struts etc...

Is the recommendation to still have the main bonnet bolted down after the kit is fitted? Just wondering if the top catches offer enough security

I forgot to mention to you all. We can replace our old horrible bonnet latches and replace with the QUIK latch bonnet pins instead. Alluminium ones look fabolous. I have ordered mine in today. I am trying to upload pictures but it wont let me, on my Ipad, Iphone, work computer adn I-Mac. What do i need to do to upload pictures!!!!!

How do the 2 rods connect together (also are they the same size as the standard bonnet rod on a T350? I was wondering if i could do something similar on the T350 just to open the bonnet to a slightly higher angle to improve access for checking oil and cleaning purposes....!
As there is restriction from the oil tank, its a bit tricky. Allan said its not advisable. Sorry to dissapoint you.

Have you ever thought about adapting the kit for the T350 / Tamora, sure there would be a market for it!
Tamora / T350 / Sag don't have front sections to the bonnet.http://www.pistonheads.com/Gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
I wasn't thinking of having it open to the same extent as on the Tuscan, but what I was thinking was if you bought another bonnet stay rod and cut it down to say 2-3 inches you could then open the bonnet that little bit more (obviously making sure it doesn't foul the oil tank or anything at the front of the engine bay). If what connects the rods just separates then you could secure the longer original rod with a clip where it would normally be in the engine bay and then the shorter rod just clip under the bonnet?
I think mine is particularly low as there is no thread of the rod showing at either end and there is some spare runner space.
So how does the joint work on the tuscan? Do you just insert the end of each rod into it?
Hopefully my ramblings makes some sense to someone???

Hi mk1fan, thanks for the link and I have already read through that thread in detail. As it has been going on since 2013 I am not expecting any solutions to some out soon so I am keen just to do something that will help a little in the meantime! It does look like the bonnet has the ability to open a bit further without any major modification than mine does currently and if i could just buy one of these connectors and butcher a bonnet stay rod that would be just the ticket!
