Unless I'm doing something very simple / quick then I just remove the bonnet.

Are you able to do it single handedly, is there a special method? Not sure my other half loves me enough to be heading to the garage every time I want take the bonnet off!

Yes, I can do it singlehandedly. But, I'm not too bothered about the current bonnet. This may change once the freshly painted T350 one is fitted biggrin

My paint work is pretty much spotless at the moment, so combine that with me being pretty clumsy I don't think I would risk it single handedly! Hence the reason I want to make the engine area as accessible as possible. As I said I do think my bonnet when open sits lower than most I have seen in pics. Will see if I can adjust the existing stay a little as even an extra 1/2 to an inch would help. Especially in reaching the oil cap when the engine is warm!

You can disconect the existing stay and prop it. You could use a broom stick but you would need to secure it some way.

The Grief guys have a nice system from Leven that the more cost conscious have replicated with a bit of ally pole from 'B&Q'. Just need to add a stay / keep to the boonet and engine bay.

This sounds interesting... Do you have any other info. Looked on the Leven site but couldn't find anything?

It won't work directly with a T car. The reason for mentioning it is that it has a a nice, simple latching system. There is a thread with loads of pictures of the unit itself but the new search function isn't revealling it to me.

In reality all you need is a stick and a method of securing so that it doesn't slip off or get nudged off. There are thousands of ways of doing it ranging from cheap to expensive. If it's something you want to keep on the car then a bit more thought might be needed.

Fitted one of Allans kits that i bought last year on Tuesday. The instructions cover everything I came across doing it as a DIY job.

Allan met me on Sunday to rectify a problem with me accessing his hinged bonnet conversion.

The problem was the locating bolt near the passenger side windscreen, nothing at all to do with the work he did a year ago, but as ever Allan was keen to assist.

He's a Top Bloke and highly recommended. clap
