Hi,
In a nutshell, my husband wanted the Tuscan for ages, then due to small inheritance he got it....and I then fell head over heels in love with it! I have been using info from you guys on this forum for a few weeks now to help us out, so first of all big thanks for all your posts, as we have learned a massive amount from you all.

We got our 2000 tuscan at a low price, but having had it checked out it does need an engine rebuild (looking back we were pretty naive when buying). Powers performance has been recommended to us, has anyone else got any recent experience of them, or can recommend anyone else for a Tuscan speed six engine rebuild? And how long a rebuild take approx, as we are trying to decide whether to have it done now, or wait until after the good 'top-off' weather has finished to have it done.

Give Jason or Chas a call at str8six.
Both are very knowledgeable and always have the time to talk TVR.
From my personal experience nothing is to much trouble and their service is second to none.

I'll second that. Jason knows his stuff and builds a very fine engine indeed.

Had a recent rebuild at Powers, definitely recommend them.

Be aware, depending on how bad the damage is, continuing to drive the car may make the problem worse and so increase the cost.

OK, Both Jason at Str8Six and Dom at TVRpower are probably recognised as the TVR engine experts and have the knowledge and facilities to rebuild a straight 6 engine to the latest spec's with proven components.

I'd advise telephoning both and seeing what they can do and what your options are. Both will offer a rebuild to a standard spec' i.e. a 3.6 or 4 litre engine....But you might(will??) be tempted by a 4.3 or 4.5 litre 'upgrade'.

They both might offer a menu of options to a 'standard' rebuild.

I'd also discuss the possibility of renewing the clutch - as the engine will be out of the car anyway.

Time-wise, TVRPower may well have rebuilt engines "on the shelf", Jason probably will not have this level of availability. From car drop off, I guess you'd be looking at 3 weeks to collection, maybe less at TVRPower?

Thanks so much for all your replies guys, I will make a few calls and see if we can get it done sooner rather than later. Your help is much appreciated! Cheers

Just interested to know as mine is a 2000 Tuscan, who said it's due a rebuild and what exactly is wrong with it to come to that conclusion?

Thanks!

Definitely get Jason or Dom to check it over first before you resign yourself to a complete rebuild, although a rebuild is a good investment for the car either way!

The warranty you get with a rebuild increases the cars value, if you ever need to sell, so get the longest deal you can

Wise decision, both can rebuild but in case you need warranty work, Dom is your man.
