Hi, I wonder if anyone can help. I've a late 2003 mk1 and I've just discovered that although the indicators work the hazards don't.

Are they on separate fuses? If it's not a fuse what else could it be? I ask because I don't have a manual. I think the fuse box is under the steering column but haven't checked as I'm in work but it's MOT is booked for Saturday am.

Thank you.

hey...normally its a loose connector on the back of the hazard switch... bit of a bugger to do as you have to lift out the front display to get to it...hope that helps

They are on a separate 15A fuse which also does the alarm indicator so it may be worth having a rummage under the dash. Also check that the indicator relay is pushed fully home as these can get accidentally kicked within the footwell.

Fuse panel layout below:-

Good luck with it.

Thank you for the diagram - I'll certainly be checking that first - but with my luck frown

Damn. Any idea where I even start with that? Any known pitfalls? I've just rung my local TVR garage and they can't see me for a while.

It appears from the diagram that the fuse for the Hazards is the same fuse for the 'Alarm Indicators'. All of my indicators work when I alarm the car upon leaving it parked which kinda points to the connection at the switch I suppose?

I can't actually get to the car until later or I'd confirm before asking.

Sorry chaps.

I had a similar problem with the hazards and it turned out to be the main connector into the back of the dash pod. The solder joints on the pcb had dried and cracked. I took it apart and reflowed the solder on all the joints and problem solved. Could be the same.... or as said previously its the switch itself.

Points to the switch, the circuit and fuse are in place as they all flash when you arm the alarm.

As mentioned already check the relay is seated correctly, also worth checking it is good by swapping with a similarly rated one. Connection at the back is also a likely failure point, however with recent very hot weather over there it could be you are suffering from different thermal expansion between the brass button and aluminium surround. This happened to mine the other month when somebody thought it would be fun to reach into an open parked car and push/turn buttons, resulting in hazards that I couldn't turn off so had to pop the fuse and relay. As soon as it had cooled down all was right again. So equally it could be that you are pushing the button but it is not making contact at the back.

I dont think my problem is a hot weather one, I cant work out why hazards work with ignition on but not when ignition is off. Its like it is working off 2 different power supplies, but 1 is not there. The switch obviously works ok and the relay too, unless there are 2 relays for the hazards. It really is giving me a headache

I know it's an old thread, but I'm having the same problem. Has anybody got any ideas as to a solution , also the fit on the clock surround trims is terrible is there a way to get them to fit better?
cheers

I had a problem with the fog light not working.
It turned out to be the ribbon that connects the bord with the switches to the dash ECU.
I had to remove, trim the ribbon cable back a bit and resolder it.
Might be worth checking as the hazard light switch is connected by a small similar method.

If the hazards don't work but the indicators do it's usually the hazard switch itself that has failed. Mine has, twice. They literally fall apart.

good idea about the ribbon, I think i'll have to take the dash out and check it all. the hazards work with the ignition on but not when it's off.

I’m sorry for the thread revival but does anyone know where I might get a new switch? Google not helping much. Many thanks!
