I have been lurking for a while now and last week decided to take the plunge and put a deposit down on a Tuscan S.

Should be picking it up at some point next week from Tony Gilbert Cars.

Now like a kid counting the days till Christmas smile

Cheers,

I went for the purple one in the end. Tony is a nice bloke and has been great to deal with so far.

Indeed, Until something goes wrong with the car.......

Anyway, enjoy the car, you won't regret buying a Tuscan.

Well picked up the car today weell chuffed.

After driving over 300 miles home, the power steering now not working along with the servo assisted brakes seem no longer aiding braking. Really need to stamp on them to stop.

Could the two be linked?

Cheers

Nope... Two seperate systems.

This is interesting reading as I think Mark (milky400) originally bought a Tuscan with some gremlins from the same vendor.

Cheers for the reply,

Hopefully the steering is just a fuse or relay. Going to have to investigate the brakes tomorrow.

Anyone had similar issues?

What year is the car. The power steering pump on mk1's is driven of the auxiliary shaft.

Ok, then yes this will be belt driven. At a guess either the belt has snapped or best out come I'd the fluid feed has popped off. The belts break as some of the specialists are reluctant to change them, as the shaft carrier housing bolts, which need removing can be seized. If they snap off in the block its engine out.

Pop the bonnet and airbox off tomorrow you'll be able to see what's going on.

Having bought from a dealer, I'd get them to agree to picking up the tab for your local specialist to fix it. I had a similar couple of niggles when I got mine from another well known independent in the Midlands. Given I wasn't taking it 150 miles back to him, we eventually agreed on my my local specialist doing it and him paying. Even if you don't have a warranty of any sort, the sale of goods act covers you on immediate problems, even on a second hand car.

Afternoon all,

All working again, checked the system and rack for leaks all clear and belt still on the pump and still tight.

I gave the car a run and after a few heavy braking runs the brakes are fine, I think the disks must have had something on the surface making it feel like no mater how hard I pushed they weren't going to stop me.

Sounds plausible. What about the power steering ? It is a very light assistance so you could be misled as to its not working when you're not used to it, particularly parking.

Hi Speed3, you might be right. I was pretty tired when I got home last night and was struggling doing the usual 15 point turn to get into the parking bay.

Most of my journey before was motorway.

so roll me further bitch

I often think my power steering is broken, it is rather heavy doing 3 point turns etc.
