I have a 2000 4ltr Tuscan with only about 29K miles on it. I am only the 2nd owner and have had it for the past 13 years. I haven't used it since the clutch went 7 years ago. Its now looking pretty poorly and I'm not sure what to do with it ? should I spend the money on respray , engine rebuild & clutch or break it ?which seems very cruel ?
Advice please ?

An uncrashed Tuscan of any condition has got to be worth £10-12k going off what people have paid in the last year even assuming it needs an engine rebuild. Take it to Pete at Elmwood to do a basic inspection inc tappets, do the clutch, perishable lines, fluids flush then get it detailed and I wouldn't be surprised if it made north of £15k. Despite TVR owners knowing better, those new to the marque still value low miles and owners. Biggest cosmetic issue (although not too expensive to sort) would be a rotted interior. Paint condition I expect will be comensurate with miles & storage conditons but should detal out reasonably well.

Will need an MOT, so fuel lines and brake lines should be checked. Need some new fuel as well smile

Thanks for all of your input and advice people, I think I'm gonna get the clutch done put an MOT on it and get it down to Elmwood for them to pick over it and make a list of jobs to do. I'll have to do it a bit at a time coz its forking out the £10K at once thats been putting me off all this time.

Elmwood are listed on the TVR CC as offering 15% discount to members. Might be an idea to check before you commit

Elmwood can do the MOT even if you don't commit to a whole bunch of other stuff. The risk of putting it through a standard MOT station beforehand is they're not tuned into TVR foibles like handbrakes and it will definitely fail after that time stood still. Just outline to Toby & Clare what your constraints are and they'll do a honest job without ripping you off. Head mechanic Pete is ex-Mole Valley TVR and knows his stuff. Makes sense to ask for clutch, basic inspection & MOT then take it from there.

Jason, now you and the kids have had a reminder of how epic they sound, when I bumped into you over the weekend (at the Anchor, down near Wisley), surely that's made the decision for you!! ;-) You know you want to keep it.
