I have a 2000 4ltr Tuscan with only about 29K miles on it. I am only the 2nd owner and have had it for the past 13 years. I haven't used it since the clutch went 7 years ago. Its now looking pretty poorly and I'm not sure what to do with it ? should I spend the money on respray , engine rebuild & clutch or break it ?which seems very cruel ?
Advice please ?

If you want to keep the car restore it,if not why don't you sell it as a project instead of breaking it.

Some pictures might help the decision.

I think buying a TVR is like buying a house. The first thing people do when they move in is to change the bathroom, paint it throughout and alter the kitchen. I think someone looking for a good car would jump at the chance to do it their way. Paint it their colour, trim it their way, rebuild it to their spec. Make sure it is a good chassis, change the suspension. Those that wouldn't would buy one of the more expensive finished cars.

Is it a cat car or original, how many owners, spec etc?

Only 1 previous owner, I brought it 13 years ago in 2002. Its a 2000 4 litre car. Parisian Blue with dark blue leather. 18" spiders clear indicators. Everything else untouched.

At £5k surely you'd get more by breaking it? If you do decide to break it I'd be interested in a fair few bits & pieces tongue out

Think i'd be better off throwing a few grand on it to get it back on the road and crashing it into a ditch. The cheapest one on Autotrader is £19K

Nothing to add but I'd love to know how you managed to leave it untouched for 7 years

Engine runs fine could do with a tune and service, its really just clutch , paint and a bit of tlc. i'm thinking now just get it back on the road with a £2K clutch and do running repairs. If it was mint it would be one to have. Low miles and only 1 previous owner.

Just noticed you're in cheam. I'm in Ashtead, will keep an eye out for you.
And I know what you mean, it's what's kept me out of TVRs until last month

It is a saver.

Having just done the man maths

£1k for clutch
£4k for rebuild if it needs it (it will do at some stage)
£2k for trim
£3k for paint

£20-£30k depending on how nice it is or do the bare minimum and just drive it, doing bits as you go.

BTW - If it is running it is worth £10k at least maybe £12k-£14k depending on condition.

Not what you put in your post, sounds like you need a kick up your ass to get it serviced clutch done, abit of polish, but the main thing is you have 7 years of driving it to catch up on drivingbiggrin

edited to add please get all fuel lines checked before you drive it!
