Hello all.

Just a quick question. I know the general speculation is that TVR prices are on the rise.....
I have advertised my Tuscan way under the market estimation its not without interest , but more tyre kickers than serious potential buyers ?

What are peoples thoughts on this?

My thoughts are as follows. The mileage is high for these sorts of cars so that will limit the serious buyers - in my opinion.. As there is no mention of an engine rebuild people will think it's going to need one very soon. (I've been told by a main dealer that most unmodified engines only last circa 50K miles). If a prospective buyer is anything like me they will go back through your posts on the forum and potentially come to a conclusion that the car has a history of problems - not a true indicator but people look for the downside in any purchase - or at least they may and the advert also gives a history of problems albeit ones that have been addressed.
I'm not in anyway saying the car isn't a sound investment or in good condition but people looking for a 'keeper' may look elsewhere and you're left with the tyre kickers.
All a personal constructive - hopefully - opinion....Well you did ask and the car looks really good.

A 63000 miler Tuscan just sold on here for around £37000, MK2 Convert so mileage should not be a major problem

Okay guys both points of view taken. I know about these engines and how some can wear out early in low mileage, or run all the way past 80,000 miles without major rebuilds. I think someone on here had a speed six that lasted over 100,000 miles. Quite well documented. My engine does not smoke or use excessive oil and pulls like a train.
On another note some cars have low mileage but have been kept in a damp garage, never run and cause nothing but issue. ( new carpets leather retrim etc etc) But I suppose its swings and roundabouts.
Some just have a better life than others. Mine is kept with dehumidifier in the garage, polished and cleaned all the time.

Not quite but close smile . I bought it but it is a special last of the line car with a great service history, a service and inspection by Dom, a unique colour and has been very well looked after by The Surveyor. It is a one owner car with 62k on (now 63.5k) and feels strong, however it could go wrong tomorrow. In its service history it has not wanted for anything, it has a replacement MBE, a new half time bearing and a few other bits.

The thing is a car is worth what a buyer will pay for it, if you look at the cerbera forum they are jumping up and down at the TVRCC valuation table but the reality is it is difficult to price these things. I have just bought one and sold one, the one I sold was sold for a lot less than the one I bought but had less miles. There is a Mk1 S for £35k at Str8six, are Sags worth £60k.

The mileage isn't the problem imho, it is now the fact it doesn't have a rebuild although with an inspection/insurance from Dom or someone like him then it might be easier to sell. The perception is that there is a problem with all S6 cars, the reality is the later engines/rebuilds can be good for 200k, they can also have their problems. A well serviced and looked after car should be fine but you have to change the buyers perception of risk.

BTW I think your car looks great, the only thing that I would change is an inspection from a well respected TVR garage like Power or Str8six.

Yes, I only bought my Mk1 Tuscan without an engine rebuild from a dealer after he'd arranged an inspection and warranty on the engine plus a full service by Dom.

You may find doing something similar would generate more interest and allow you to more than recover your costs.

Out of curiosity, I had a squint for your sale and if you don't mind a few comments and won't be offended by criticism please read on.

The whole add is written with a negative bias. Most people do this because they feel they should point out the bad bits before you see them. Review each line and see how you can rephrase it to be positive.

I'd remove the comment about engine mounts shearing. It will only scare people
Change the throttle body modifications to throttle upgrade. the word Modification worries people. And take out this "to prevent erratic idling / misfire and general rough running" because it suggests you had a problem and you had to get specialist bits made in order to fix it.

Same applies to the bonnet modification. Call it an upgrade.

Call your radiator recore a radiator upgrade. Recore suggests you are cheap. We know it was an improvement, someone new to TVRs won't.

"Valve clearances have been adjusted as per service last month."
What service - it isn't mentioned. Was any other work done? This really needs highlighting and should be at the top of your list.
How many miles ago was it and how many to the next service.
Try to make this a positive because it reads like a negative.

If there are no rips in the seats why mention the word at all.
Interior is perfect with only the usual unavoidable slight scuffing to the drivers side seat bolster.
See, reads much better already. But a picture would help hugely because your idea of slight and my idea of it could be poles apart.

I hope that helps and GLWTS

I did click on the link in your first post but it takes me to a page with three tuscan race cars..?
I did have a good butchers through the tuscan classifieds and I'm guessing yours is the 2002 silver with black wheels?
