Apologies if this thread has been done

Have surface rust on the chassis. As part of the winter project looking to get this remedied

Question is, is this job best left to the someone who does this day in day out, or is it something one can do well themselves

Does anyone have any recommendations on garages that aren't going to completely kill the account?

If its a DIY job, am I wrong in thinking access is going to be an issue as you only see one side of the chassis with the other side being obstructed?

Hi

depends on how far you really want to go as i looked at mine and thought the same but then decided take the body off and do the full job of getting it shot blasted zinc treated the power coated.

ideally not body off at this stage

just want to get it in to a position where it is tidied up and not deteriorating

Hi Richard,
Sounds like the right approach.
Did you do that yourself or have it done? Roughly what was the cost involved?

This is before and after... The chassis paint had been burnt by the cats so I use epoxy primer mixed to get the right colour match. Depends where your repairs are to if the body comes off. My chassis only has this damage because it only has done 6000miles and never seen a wet road

Hi mc 12

Yeah have done it all myself and it really depends on how far you want to go with it but I have gone all the way and if I could post pics up then I would be able to show people how much I've done. Well it has been a nut and bolt rebuild so have gone all the way

I was going to do mine but when I had the car inspected by Colin at TVRSSW he said it was fine. However I did find a local company that would unbolt the body and raise up by 20/30mm (shield the body work), shot blast and zinc spray paint it for me. It was not that much either, but that was just for the outriggers and plate work. But then if I'm right that the area of concern?
