I replaced the tyres on my Mk1 earlier in the year with Continental Conti Sport Contact 5 tyres. Continental have a great reputation and are consistent winners of the EVO annual performance car tyre tests. They were a huge improvement over the old Toyos. The car had a geometry set up before they were fitted. The biggest difference however was fitting 3mm spacers to the front - I couldn't believe how such a small change could give such an improvement. My tyres are 245/40/R18/93Y rears and 235/40/R18/91Y fronts. You want to make sure - in my opinion - you get appropriate load ratings so the side walls aren't too stiff. I don't take the car on track so I wasn't after 'super sticky/rubbish in the wet tyres' but something that has really good all round performance and great wet weather lateral and longitudinal grip which is where the car can become challenging...The only issue now is to sort out the springs and dampers. I came to the Tuscan from a Noble and there is absolutely no comparison in ride and handling. I think there is a significant mismatch between the spring rates and the dampers on the Tuscan. The spring rates are probably too high but the dampers are way too stiff. The car is still much more stable than it was but I think much softer dampers would transform it over typical B roads.
