Hey guys,

Getting the rear cans off was a bit of a challenge but whilst I did this I noticed that the rear silencers (boxes before bike cans) look a bit rusty on the weld.

Any recommendations on where to get / have replacement made?

Cheers

The circumferential welds on the IN/OUT pipes on those 'boxes' are their weak points...particularly the stub on the OUT pipe...it takes all the weight of the end can.

Those 'boxes' are just resonator boxes, they aren't filled with any wadding. I believe some folks have dispensed with them entirely and had bends made up to match to the end cans.

I'd google for a local exhaust fabricator and speak with them - whatever way you decide to go.

Removed them on both Tuscans, best thing I have done.

Interesting! Thanks for the advice.

Where did you get the pipes from?

Also, what difference does it make to the sound? Much louder?

The first one I did myself with std pipes, just need a load of clamps, didn't really get the angles and lengths perfect.

The second one was done when I bought it but had been welded in situ, it changes the note but not really the volume. I personally like it a lot. An exhaust fabrication shop like longlife would do it in a flash.
