Is there any easy way to manually turn the heater back to heat. All the lights are on. The fan is working but I'm guessing, like the grif, there's a little actuator somewhere that's stuck and the valve is closed. No water leaks just stuck. Or is there a separate fuse that controls actuator? I have unplugged and cleaned the heater box connection but no joy. Any advice. ..

its on the passenger side of the engine bay, a large black plastic type thing next to the manifolds by the wing. I'm trying to get mine sorted.

Gents, yes, the 'black hump' contains the heater matrix....easy to trace the coolant IN and OUT lines to the matrix.

To access the "heater stepper motor" you have to remove the 'hump' (the matrix is held inside by expanding foam). There is a bit of a fiddle in pulling the spigot(4" dia) from the bulkhead, but once free, the whole lot can be put to one side on the rocker cover - you don't have to disconnect the coolant lines.

The stepper motor is in the well below. Basically, the stepper controls a flap, directing the air from the heater blower either into the 'cold' side (which has the a/c evaporator matrix - if fitted) or the 'hot' side as controlled by the cabin control.

When re-fitting the 'black hump' make sure the silicon elbow in the passenger side footwell is well located on the 4" spigot and the flap valve flange of the upper dash top.

I see most of the spares outlets have stepper motors in stock.

Thanks chaps. Cars having a 12 k service next week so will pop down my friendly garage and have a little play them. Hopefully a bit of lubricant + electrical cleaner will do the job.
