Good advice. Ill keep this in mind.

I would get any potential purchase inspected. I believe racing green are quite near me.
Not sure Racing Green have got their new premises up and running yet. However, TVR101 was started up by their head mechanic. I would take it there for inspection if I were in Berks.

Also. How do they fit 6 footers?

I tried a t350 a few years back an needed to drop the seat about 3 inches. I tried a tuscan too (didnt drive just sat) but the roof was off so didnt think to check.

No worries there, plenty of head room.

That takes us to a whole search page, which particular car are you asking about ?

If you mean height wise then they are fine. If you mean appendage wise then you'll struggle.

My Dad lives in Cold Ash near Newbury, and my Mum in Wokingham and I am wanting to get out in the car a bit more so may be about in the next few weekends should you want a passenger ride.

Mine is garaged now but was outside on quiet street in Balham and the targa panel does not leak at all. It was always dry. I think new seals are important to achieve this.

So... what do I make of it to drive. Well I have the front 3mm spacers and had a full geo setup done after getting Neil Garner's new 46mm Nitrons deal and it's very solid now. Obv possible to adjust to the drivers preferences. At the moment perhaps a click too hard as they were set up for dry smooth roads when I took it on the ferry to N Spain in August.

Its an amazing feeling to drive, very responsive and lots of torque. I came to it from an E36 M3 Evo and so was a complete step up in performance from that. I will admit that if you poke it, it will bite you but thats probably part of the appeal. Certainly I would think twice about hustling it as hard as I could get away with in the M3. Its not given me an unexpected scare either on the road or with bills. Its needed a reset via computer a couple of times when really wet and got confused. Not bad for 4 years of ownership of a TVR.

I'm actually thinking of moving mine on after 4 years and for new baby on the way based reasons thinking of getting into a Maserati Gransport. I need 4 seats but I know I will really miss it.

I can't decide if I will be putting mine up for sale this year, I should with a house move and a wedding to pay for, and the car has only done 100 miles in the last 2/3 years. Its Rolex Blue (Purple) on 22K miles.

Would love to go for a ride.

Likely buyer here so feel free to put some details and pics and price in this thread.

My main problem with buying a tuscan is ive just taken my e46 out. Its stupenously fast and feels solid/bulletproof. Its really spot on after 7 years of tweaks, mods, and interior overhaul. Just spent the day cleaning it and it looks ace too. Not sure i can get rid of my e46.

Someone take me for a spin so i can make my mind up.

Happy to take other person out in my 550bhp m3 in return.

I've had a lot of different types of cars (911's, M5, Ferrari etc) but the TVR's, especially the Tuscan, just get under your skin like nothing else.

Wish I still had my Tuscan.

M cars are nice but, I'm afraid to say, are dull compared to a Tuscan. A Tuscan has the visual drama, the aural drama and all of it at low speeds so you don't have to be pressing on like a loon to enjoy. And when you do press on, the straight six screaming up the Rev range is addictive......prefer it to my Cerbera if I'm being honest.

Also. Loved taking mine round the track. Uncompromising yes, but keeps you right on your tippy toes and fully focused !!! Ha.

Also, I'm 6'2". Plenty of room inside.

I'm a 6 footer with long arms! Plenty of room. I prefer a lower sitting position so I have taken the velcro'd seat cushion out and sit very low now. Had some thin cushions made by Dave the Trimmer to match existing upholstery to give my rear end a little bit of protection smile
Perfect driving position for me.
Should be at the next Berkshire meet

Just as a side note, TVRs are all OK for tall people because the man who owned the company during their heyday, Peter Wheeler, was a tall man himself.

Ok that sounds great!

I know this next question is subjective, but what is the seating position like? Good view? Good weighting on the controls? nice gear action? I hear they have very long pedal movement?

Any issues with steering wheel hitting knees?

Were TVR a company enthusiastic about driver engagement and focused experience rather than fancy packaging?

I guess what I'm asking is if the lack of ABS and TCS, finesse etc is because it was designed as a proper drivers car / thrill ride, and not budget restriction / unfinished project!

Anyone about sunday/ morning near bracknell ? smile

I'm 6ft2 and own a mk1 Tuscan - no plans to sell ever though smile

I have loads of room and no issues with comfort/view - steering column definitely adjusts up and down, but not in/out if I recall correctly. Yes, the throttle pedal goes a long way down!

Gearchange is OK but not amazing... you can't rush it, it's a very "definite" action - kinda hard to describe. My gearstick doesn't seem to self-centre, which probably doesn't help!

In terms of driver engagement/thrills they are amazing. While they don't have the finesse of an Elise or Caterham, I think the power and noise make up for it. I've had the usual steering rack/spacers/geo changes, which have made it feel loads safer (an early mk1 out of the box is really quite lairy!), but you always know you need to have a bit of respect for the car when pushing on. Unfortunately I haven't driven an M3 (and definitely not a 500bhp one!), so can't directly compare... I've driven a few Porsches on track (boxster, 996 turbo), which is probably the closest comparison I can give - they feel much more composed and predictable around the limit, which in my book means nowhere near as fun smile

I'm in Oxford and would normally be happy to take you out, but there were signs on the M40 tonight about spreading salt/grit, so I won't be out tomorrow I'm afraid!

Pending the bracknell meet i think ive decided to go for it.
