Any recommendations for TVR specialist around essex or berkshire/surrey?

Found a nice S. Just need to get an inspection completed.

I'd probably give Bespoke Performance a call and see if they could recommend somebody.

Hope it goes well.

Anyone know this car?

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/t...

The one i liked has sold before i could secure.

Also my M3 is now for sale if anyone fancies a swap with cash your way. here are the details http://forums.m3cutters.co.uk/showthread.php?t=147...

My preference is tuscan S in two tone. Must have engine rebuild. But open minded.

looks nice but S spoiler and its not an S.

And non standard steering wheel if that matters but personally prefer the Trek Momo one myself. Test drive it, listen out for any odd noises and buy it!!

This is ideal. No mention of engine rebuild tho. Sent them a message. Wihout rebuild im thinking 20k tops.

That looks a real good one with full history. I wouldn't stress too much about lack of rebuild on a 2004 car, by that stage they'd sussed out what they'd been doing wrong and started fitting the correct spec components. Nothing can guarantee you, but my 2004 Mk 1 (non-S) is on 55k and is in fine fettle, as are loads of Tamoras and T350's from that period. I went for a full history file and late car over the mileage.

As it's a proper S, and in a great colour then i suspect 20k is too low in the current market unless the seller is in need of quick funds. You could always agree the sale a bit higher subject to Dom at Powers inspecting and putting a warranty on the engine?

Just seen the ad for the M3, looks great! If we get a decent weather day before you sell it then i'd love a passenger ride as i've always been interested to see what the ESS supercharged setup feels like. Happy to pass ride in my Tuscan in return of course!

I've a 2003 S with no rebuild and 38k on the clock, pulls like a train and no signs of any wear at its last service. Agree with Speed 3 a rebuild is not the "be all and end all", there are plenty cars from 2002 onward without engine work - the same way there are plenty earlier cars with more than one rebuild.....

Given the rise in TVR residuals i would say that 2004 S is actually very competitively priced....

I remember some very contentious threads on these very forums about exactly when TVR fixed the S6.
A lot of earlier cars that are claimed to be trouble free may well have had warranty work done early on their lives.

Perhaps it depends on how early? I can only speak from personal experience, but my 2001 car without an engine rebuild under warranty or later, is still going fine. It was inspected/tested/warranted by Powers Performance last year, and to quote 'our latest spec is better, but there is nothing wrong with it, they weren't all bad'.

I suspect its a question of percentages, where earlier ones are more likely to require a rebuild before say, 60,000 miles, but if they've already lasted ~10 years they are probably fine. Would be interesting to know if anyone has any idea of the numbers that had to be fixed for each year of production. But even if we had estimates of the number fixed by the factory, plus the major rebuilders now that would help quantify the real risk.

Tend to agree with that, suspect it would be closer to £30k or more at a primary dealer. Can't see it being on the market for long given its rarity and condition. I think the Mk1 Tuscan market will go like the Cerb market is going, now available numbers are falling and demand is savvy. People will pay a premium for a rare spec and exceptional history/condition/colourway. The Mk2 and other T-car markets are already driven by their low production numbers.
