Tuscan has been stored for quite a few years and has been recommissioned. Cranking over and there's oil pressure and the fuel pump is primed and working (new one was fitted). However, not getting any spark. I've had the 15/20amp fuse issue checked and that is fine. I'm now looking to replace the coil pack and HT leads.

If this doesn't work, what would be the next item to have checked over?

....Oooh! I'm no expert, but I'd probably agree that HT leads and coil pack are a fairly cheap and easy next step (maybe plugs as well?)

If this still does not fire the engine, then I reckon you should get the car to one of the respected service establishments. They will be able to get the diagnostics connected and maybe the measured values will provide some indication?

There are (now free) downloads of the diagnostics - EvoOli has produced one - check out the Speed 6 forum on here....Ultimately, it'll be an electrical issue...How good are you at sleuthing electrics?

Check crank sensor before spending on coilpack, leads and plugs.

One of two things spring to mind,

Crank sensor, as above, or immobiliser issue.

On the cerb, somebody prior to my ownership had bypassed part of the circuit so you are able to crank the engine without it firing.

coil pack, maybe but it wouldn't be my first though. A rudimentary check with a multimeter can see if the pack has good resistances. I believe secondary should be around 5.7k ohm can't remember primary's off the top of my head. Would have to look in my crib book down at the garage.

Thanks for the help, have got a replacement coil pack and HT leads, but will also try a repalcement crank sensor. See if they make any difference

As far as I'm aware, the immobiliser prohibits A) the fuel pump, and B) the starter motor....I don't believe there is an inhibit on the (HT) sparks.

I still reckon that it might be prudent in the long run to get it to one of the TVR specialists...You could spend a couple of £hundred replacing stuff that is perfectly serviceable....It's not unknown for the ECU to be an issue. I've read articles where the HT drivers/triggers on the ECU board had overheated and caused a misfire on the relevant cylinder....i.e no spark on that cylinder.

Good luck. Nick

I don't think it's an immobiliser issue as the fuel pump wouldn't be working. Going to change the coil pack and crankshaft sensor to see if it makes a difference. If it doesn't, then off for a full diagnostic check to see what comes up
