Where about's in the country are you?

EDIT: Just saw your profile is west sussex, I know of couple of places in Essex, but may be too far away?

Essex is easier than the other two locations. Who do you know that provides a good rebuild ?
Thanks

I suppose it is really!

Bespoke and Levens are both very good, never personally used them but have a good name. There are a couple more, just have a google.

There is one local to you that I have used before. Sadly had a very poor experience so unable to say exactly who (rules), but was surprised considering the rep they have. Just goes to show sometimes! Sadly, its my favourite colour.

Thanks, I had not considered the Green coloured business as I also had a very bad experience with them with my first TVR purchase about 6 years ago. They were appalling so not going back there.

If your ever looking to sell your Tuscan given its a SP6, your best bet is Power or Str8Six. Warranty, peace of mind, known quantity. Power also have accredited garages who can service her so you don't need to go direct to them each time e.g. Matt Smith.

I'm not sure why Leven or Bespoke were suggested as builders as this is not something they focus on like the ones mentioned above. That's not to say they can't do it. They would be no different to any other TVR centre e.g. TrackVRoad. I would recommend them to service your car as my experience has been positive with them all. RnD do rebuilds too and many use their components on bespoke rebuilds or upgrades.

The reality is that however well they do it, the Str8Six or Power badge holds more weight with rebuilds to the average punter as that's a mainstay of their company, tried and tested, strong warranties etc

If distance really is a problem you could get a trusted local specialist to drop the engine and tranship it to your chosen rebuilder for the cost of a courier. I know Elmwood and 101 do that, sure any decent specialist would too. I think Taylor TVR in Kent do rebuilds with a decent rep but more limited warranty.

Whilst your correct, OP asked as to weather there were any OTHER garages that could offer a rebuild. I would also imagine that the general consensus also knows this. But, they also command a higher price than many places as a result of the warranty. As much as I may be the devils advocate on here, is it not said that many people choose not to have an extended warranty on many of their products because of the price point. As In reality that is why the extra money is commanded, I do not believe there will be any difference in workmanship.

Ultimately the choice is not ours, I happen to have a car that was rebuilt by power before my tenure, it is very good. I use items from power, as they are also very good. Likewise I have driven many cars with engines built by other companies, and they feel/sound no different. Besides, when asked, what is to say that any other garage won't offer a warranty as part of their work. I know I do.

Had a rebuild at Powers 18 months ago and also live in Sussex. If you can drive the car there the train journey to and from Coventry is very easy and cheap - £17.00 one way from Hove if booked in advance - Trainline.com.
Powers also give a 100,000 mile warranty if you have it serviced with them in the future. Just had that done and stayed at the nearby Novotel (5 min walk) the night before they did the service.

Yep, agree - I didn't think anything of dropping my 1st Tuscan off at Power and then getting the train back to London. Never underestimate how much more relaxed you will feel driving knowing if the rare event the engine does go again in the 5 year period you don't have to shell out again. When I got mine done it was a long time ago and you only got a year's warranty. I sold it not long after the warranty was up just because I couldn't risk the expense again and that did take some of the enjoyment away.

Also agree specialist should be able to drop the engine and send it off. Bespoke have def said they can do that.

Not sure if RG still doing FFF rebuilds but i've been happy with the FFF in my current Tuscan so far. As per earlier comments just keeping an eye on classifieds over the last few years suggests any of the big 3 is likely worth some extra spend or inconvenience in terms of the extra value it probably adds (albeit based only on what cars rebuilt by them get advertised at and not what they are actually selling for)

Bear in mind that most TVR specialists will actually ship the engine off to Power or Str8six to actually do the work. You will pay a considerable premium for that service over going to them direct.

Give TVR101 a ring. Alternatively, remove the engine at a local garage and send it to Powers. You'll need to follow a strict install protocol if you want a warranty.
