Roof won't fit in boot.
Discussion
Had my Tuscan retrimmed last year and the boot was done with the same carpet as the interior.
This has resulted in it being impossible to get the roof section in
I should have realised as it was tight with the normal stuff.
Anyone else had the same problem?
7 weeks to go before I head down to Portugal for holidays so not much time to get a solution sorted.
The first offending bit is the carpet round the fuel pipe. Then it seems to be the general thickness across the shelf at the back.

It's a tight fit with the Targa roof when you have the colour coded boot carpet I fitted some PPF to the carpet to prevent the seals being removed from the roof panel.I would imagine as you have found with the slight higher convertible roof panel it just will not go in. I seem to remember when ordered new the colour coded boot carpet was not an option for the convertible I would assume to the roof boot fit issue. Best to contact you trimmer to see if they know a soloution.
Not quite the same problem but when I bought my Tuscan it came with a heap of spares, including a roof. We loaded the car full of parts on the trailer and tried to put the roof in the boot.... no way would it go. The roof on the car fits fine, yet the other MK 1 wont. Only difference is that one has the separate sides panels the other is all in one.
Might figure out why not one day ... or ... get a grinder out and make it a "fit" for a spare.

It's a convertible roof so all in one piece.
It fit before when it was the original gray boot carper.
With the deep pile around the fuel pipe, it pushes the roof further to the right.
Possible the panel over the fuel sensor thing is siting different than before if the carpet is tighter.
Thanks for the pointers.
I shall be asking the company that did the job if they checked this aspect because it's obviously an expected requirement.

Hi Glowworm,
No, I'm on a jolly, sorry, business trip at the moment.
Singapore, Melbourne, Sydney, New Delhi, and Hyderabad
I won't get the car to anyone before 22nd June now, which is 4 days before we head to the Med.
I can see it being a temporary fix.
Maybe remove the carpet around the fuel pipe to give more room.
