Hi,

I have a mk1 tuscan, looking to replace current T1-R with something a bit more track focused/semi-slick (I don't use the car in the wet).

Have been advised that 888s are prone to tramlining on a Tuscan (less rounded shoulders?), there doesn't seem to be a massive choice of options in Tuscan sizes (currently planning 235/40 and 245/40 r18 as recommended by str8six).

Pirelli Trofeo R are also available, but a chunk more expensive.

Has anyone tried any of these, or got any other similar suggestions?

Thanks!

Nankang NS2-R
Yokoharma ADO8R
Toyo R1R or 888
Federal 595 RSR

All of the above are decent choices and provide excellent performance. Nankang have also released a tyre 'above' the NS2-R but I can't recall the name.

As for size, there's huge amount of guff in these forums about the necessity for huge rubber. This simply isn't true. Secondly, TVR picked sizes that fitted in the arches rather than optimising performance. Hence why the Tamora (on 16 inch wheels) and the Sag had matching sized tyres alround. These are reputed to be the best handling factory cars.

I would suggest fitting 225/40s alround. Although, a number of Tuscan owners are running 255/35 alround which is what is fitted to the Sag.

Finally, TVRs seem to handle better with a higher ride height but look better lowered.

225/40, 255/35 Toyo R1R's Couldn't believe the difference, just feels more alive, much better straight line stability and no worse than the f1's in the wet. Gives me much more confidence in the car and a great performance upgrade.

Spot on. Probably the most cost effective upgrade I've done with immediate results. And I've spent some dough on the old nag
