Hi All. Bought a MK2 S a couple of months ago but without a service bonnet key. I seem to have locked the service bonnet without having the key. Is this possible ? I checked the oil level about 3 weeks ago and closed the bonnet catch and now can't open it.

Does anyone know if it locks without using a key and is there just one universal key as I know quite a few other tuscan owners who probably have one.

Are you sure it's locked? Mine is old / stiff so when I push the button in I also have to prize the handle up slightly with a small screwdriver before it'll release for me to pull it.

Does sound more like its stuck if you had it open 3 weeks ago and its been nowhere near a repair agent since. Suggest a bit of penetrating fluid and a gentle pry. I had the cable break on mine but luckily it was in the repair agent at the time and I think you would still be able to lift the handle if the cable had come off, its a simple bowden jobbie. My key does have a serial number on it (CH xx1) so I doubt they're all the same.

Might sound daft but you have tried pushing the keyhole part of the latch in to release the lever part?

To lock it you would have to close it fully then turn the key so it does sound more likely that it's just stuck!

Which one did you go for?

Thanks for the answers. 2 other tuscan owners tried opening it as well at our recent monthly meet. But from what Mr Chips is saying if you need a key to lock it then it should not be locked.

Will have another go armed with WD40 and a screwdriver.

The one I bought was a blue 2005 Mk2 S, privately from a guy in Dorset.

I had a similar problem last year, WD sorted it for me.
