Ok. Novelty of decat with straight through powertec cans producing obscene amounts of noise has now passed. And the thought of 10 days in the Alps with this noise constant is terrifying.

So what would people recommend?

Tbh cats with the powertec was about right! But I wanna keep the decats as I hear they are better for chassis and reliability in general.

I have a mk1 S with Powertech straight through end cans and the cats still fitted. The noise is perfect (in my opinion), plenty pops and bangs, loud on hard acceleration yet not obtrusive when cruising.

Decat and half sleeved std cans sounds good. You get the extra pops and bangs but the cans stop the harsh, raspy sound you get with decat and straight throughs.

Yours is the only Tuscan though I've ever heard that sounds like a Prius.

Popped my stock cans back on which i would say are about 1/4 or maybe 1/2 (so lets say 1/3rd) sleeved as they are degrading.

MUCH MUCH quieter. Too quiet. Its now more quiet than cats with powertech. Still some pops but really muted. It does now let off awesome shift farts like a gun though.

So i think a powertech somewhere between their quiet can (assuming would be similar to half sleeved stock can) and their loud can would be best.

going to order some 150mm perf PT's i think. Their quiet can is 300mm so hopefully 150mm will be somewhere between my stock 1/3rd sleeved and straight PT's.

Hi, decat and unsleeved cans is my preferred choice. Cats and straight through sounded great but not quite enough pops and bangs, cats and unsleeved cans far too quiet, decats and straight through, ear splitting on long journeys. So for now decat and unsleeved bearable for long journeys and plenty of pops and bangs. Although since decatting I am sure fuel consumption has worsened by 30% but then it could just be because I cannot help but drive it so it does pop and bang constantly !!
