In fact froze my liver until I stopped and plugged with clothing. Anyone ever investigated?

My Mk.1 has had the void along the 'cill' line and below the seat belt fixed reel filled with builder's expanding foam.

I don't get any draughts through here! Makes for a ball ache when I was 'fishing' wires for hard-wiring C-tek charger in boot though.

That is interesting - but you did not find out how the cill was being pressurised from the forward movement of the car. That to me suggests there is an open hole where there should not be one....

IIRC - at least when I was at eye level to cill/outriggers, there are weep/drain holes along the cill.

I would also think that there is not a baffle/membrane between the inner and outer skins of the body....and thus air passes through the 2 skins from the front of the car.

I believe the expanding foam was fitted during the build, and only below the seatbelt reel and into (some) of the cill...It is a TVR, the volume of expanding foam was probably NOT measured ;-).

I telephoned a professional TVR organaisation. Indeed the cills are pressurised on the drivers side from the hole which you rightly say is at the front of the car on both sides. On the passenger side this feeds the heater unit with fresh air to be mixed. On the drivers side, blows randomly round the car between the skins as you said. Solution is not to block the cill as this moves the issue to the drivers feet. Better to insert some baffles at the rear top of the headlight cavity accessed from the quarter panel after removing the bonnet. I am reliably informed. Baffles = car wash sponges or similar as expanding foam will deform the softer spots of the fibreglass skin if any.
