The battery that I thought was going to be OK has now died, the nice man from the AA checked it out.

What should I be replacing it with & where is the best place for my purchase?
He tried the one he had but it was too big & said I needed a "072".....that means absolutely nothing to me.confused

Thanks.

Chris

I've just bought an 096 Duracell battery from Eurocarparts for my mk1. It was a bargain at ~£60 with a 5yr guarantee. Fell straight in to the battery tray too. My old battery was fine when tested but couldn't feed the ecu the correct voltage whilst cranking.

Thanks, was it this one?
My current one (072) is a tight fit and this one (096) is considerably bigger.

That's it but they've hiked the price up. It was £82.99 inc vat and there was a 25% discount while the olympics was on. It was a tight fit but a bit of wriggling saw it in place.

I bought my last battery from Tayna too.

Echo Bas's thoughts above - great service and next day delivery if order placed before midday.

Just as an update to this, I replaced the battery.

The "072" which is the "official" correct size for all cars from 1998? I think, has now been replaced by the "031"
Why the fk do they do that.
The first battery the guy gave me, a "017" according to his listrolleyes, didn't fitrolleyesfurious. I had to go back with the original battery to measure against.

Some places still have 072 available.

I am now at peace with the world drink
