My speedo is goiing down suddenly. Looks like that the speedo transducer is broken (gap is OK!) But what a price 130 GBP (tvr M 1889) for such a small item. Is there an alternative for it or is it unique part made for the Speedo of a Tuscan?

When mine packed up in 2008, I looked long and hard, even called the manufacturer (they wanted more than TVR!) and couldn't find anything. I wasn't brave enough to try a different transducer in case it fried anything. Got mine from Racing Green in the end.
They have the standard one for £125 or an uprated one for £79.99 both prices ex VAT.

I changed to this sensor
http://www.distronmatic.com/produkte/baumerelectri...
And corresponding cable
http://www.eibtron.com/epages/eibtron.sf/?ObjectPa...
Benefit is that next time the sensor fails I don't have to pull the cable into the boot, just change the sensor.
The sensor has an LED that indicates it's working.
Sorry that it is in German, but I hope this helps a little.

Best regards

Go to eBay and search for MSP6724.
I'm not sure if it fits a Tuscan, but I used this to replace it on a Cerbera. Has been working for more than 2 years now.

The Cerbera has a 2 wire version. The Tuscan needs a 3 wire version (red, black white) Not sure if it is available on E Bay. Somebody?

you are right this type is an active component and needs +12V, GND to produce signal output.

there is an alternative item from the tvr parts page.
http://tvr-parts.com/tvr-parts/part-details/tvr-m1...

is this maybe an option ?
