TVR Tuscan for sale I want to know more on
Discussion
Hi all, does anyone know the history of a Tuscan for sale at the moment with reg J8 WHL ?
Stating on auto trade it is a standard Tuscan. On PH its a 6.2 litre beast? Anyone know more on it as the description isn't clear.
Also, would this affect the market price in future as it isn't a true TVR throughout?

Think you'll find that particular trader doesn't have the best of reps but their own website shows it as an original Speed Six 4.0, not sure why the PH ad shows it at a higher output suggesting a conversion. A classic high volume car supermarket where they won't let you drive the car. Not what you want when looking to be buying a TVR. Don't really know why they've got it and I think its been hanging around a while.
Been hanging around for all of this year as far as I remember.
I think what is putting people off is the history of the dealer. Google search will reveal that.
Has been discussed in these forums a lot. Some have been offered, unprompted, many thousands off the price during enquiry phone calls.
If it were me, I'd offer £12k as a trade sale - ie no warranty (which would deal with the 'Google search' issues), and take it away never to darken their doors again. That should leave enough room to cover a lot of repairs. I wouldn't budge on the price and make it clear on the phone before going to see it.
The car looks a nice one. Shame it found it's way into their ownership.

More info on it has been posted on this thread about another car;

Anyone ever had it before. It's had 5 previous owners so thought one would be on PH? Just interested in the engine that has been dropped in it and when?
Think you'll find its the factory original S6. As a 2001 that carries a reasonable risk of needing a rebuild at some point. It hasn't had a transplant for an LS.BenYNWA said:
Apologies I'm new to this and need help on the abbreviation. S6 (speed 6) I assume. What is LS? So you think this must be a very early version with original engine?
Yes S6 is the TVR Speed 6 engine, designed & built in-house. Vulnerable on early examples (part of the reason TVR went under) but fully understood now with decent rebuilds available (at a cost) and later factory examples 2003/4 onwards much lower risk. LS is the GM V8 which has gone into a small number of Tuscans, various crate versions eg LS3, LS7, basically the Corvette engine. Still more expensive than an S6 rebuild and the appeal of the Tuscan tends to be as it was designed for most but if you want modern manners then its a decent conversion and a V8 does have a different appeal and can be prompted for more ultimate power.
Hi Ben YNWA - Even as a toffee I'll help
I went to see this 9 months back. Ditto comments on the dealer and they didn't know jack about the car and history. Lovely colour but the car is tatty. IMO it would need a respray. Interior was warn and scratched hence I quickly got the impression this was not a cared for example. No info on engine rebuild or other mech works.
Too risky as good Mk1's with full rebuilds etc are now nearing £30K.
If you want a project and get it a the price mentioned above then spend around £15K on it. SP6 rebuild (4.3 or 4.5 :-) ), respray, cosmetics etc.
