Hi,

I would like change this bolt for a nice shiny new one but I don't want to undo it if I then have to strip the door to reattach whatever falls inside. Does someone know what it does?

Cheers.

i don't have a Tuscan so can't be sure but that looks to me like a threaded insert set into the fibreglass with a bolt screwed into it from inside the door?

Maybe a simple cap or cover could be glued in place?

The rough surface/finish on the fibreglass above it would bother me more or is that covered?

I had a Tuscan (1) and I don't recognise it... could you zoom out a bit, please?

Hi,

It is sealant you are seeing not fibreglass. It is black but the flash it making it look grey.

Cheers.

Its one of these bobbins, used widely on TVR's as threaded pickup points:

Its set into the fibreglass so if you try to "undo" it you'll just end up with a jagged hole in the fibreglass. There must be something taking up the thread from the inside. Unless you want a fibreglass repair and respray (and it'll still be brass clashing with your paint), best suggestion is to glue a rubber cap on it.

If it's what I'm thinking of it holds the frame inside the door and they are normally painted over. Looks like the paint has cracked and fallen off yours.
