So, I know the origins of the Taimar name being from the name of Martin Lilley's friend's girlfriend, Tayma.

Obviously the Greek mythology for the Chimaera and cerbera etc.

But what about 'Tuscan'? TVR were clearly fond of the name, using it in the late 60s, then in the racers, and finally with the Speed Six.

But where did the name 'Tuscan' come from? Did Martin Lilley just holiday in Tuscany backin the 60's and decide he liked the people?!

You may not be too far from the truth given that the earlier Grantura was simply a corruption of what GT stands for so it just followed the theme and is Italian.

Quote from p.17 of 'The TVR Griffith Story' (2004), interview with Martin Lilley:
"... the Tuscan V8, immediately following Griffith production, was given this name deliberately to distance it from its 'damaged US image' then associated with the Griffith moniker. 'Tuscan' was devised with the intention of conveying a 'strong and exotic' new message to the potential customers for this UK-US sportscar formula. Martin explained that the creation of a new name had been a professional exercise, commissioned from PR Consultants - who also came-upwith the 'Vixen' name."
