Has anyone compared the sound of these cans with original cans that have been sleeved ?

Also has anyone looked into de-catting the exhaust ?

Cheers

Whitey,

If you are interested in decatting your tuscan, theres a company called Dacal Engineering Company Ltd on 01253 738625. Talk to Rick. Simon at the CCC gave me there details, but I havn't spoken to them. I can change the Cans for quiet ones for trackdays, dont fancy changing the cats every time I go to a trackday.

Cheers,

Don't forget we already have a fully developed titanium can system available. The cans are avaiable in a matt finish, or a rainbow effect finish. You get a full system in stainless steel also and a step up in diameter to Tuscan 'S' bore. They look and sound awesome and are available ex-stock. We can send out via a carrier and they do fit!! Call now for further details 01434 601666.

Carbon Can Co cans look like the o.e. cans but are available in powder coated colours and soon to be available in stainless steel, plain titanium and coloured titanium and are a larger bore and like your motorcycle end cans fit perfectly.

Peninsula have Tuscan decat pipes and various rear boxes in stock. They have fitted and tested these on about half a dozen cars

I'm sorry if I have appeared to infer that someones product may not fit! The point I was trying to make is that we supply a full system not just the end cans and it is therefore very important that the whole thing can be fitted with the minimum of fuss! You could indeed buy a system from us and only fit the cans, and I really cannot imagine anyone not being able to make the cans so they don't fit. We would also consider supplying the titanium cans only if that is what people want. It is simply that as TVR dealers we wanted to provide an alternative package that offers a combination of enhancements, sound, looks and performance, and offering a full system was the way we approached this.

Point taken gentlemen.

One question though - these cans are highly visible modifications to the Tuscan although in themselves unlikely to change the performance of the car. Do you consider that these would still be insurance notifiable mods as we all know how shirty insurance companies can be in trying to find reasons not to pay out? If a car turns up at the factory for repair work, will TVR refuse to honour the engine warranty?

With the Carbon Can Co ones it's easy enough to swap them back for track days,MOT etc providing they do not get stuck on like the orignals were!!

In the end I gave up trying to get them off, just could not get a good grip on them with the car on the floor.Marc at MF cars in Ghent got them off as when up on a ramp it was eaiser to give them a good twist & pull.

I recently found a company who were prepared to make a replacement rear silencer for my Tamora, (purely to increase the noise level ), and I was on the verge of handing over the cash but decided to check how the factory would view such a modification and what the effects would be on the two year engine warranty.

The answer was perfectly clear. Any modification of the exhaust system invalidates the factory warranty!

It looks as though I'll have to make do with a 'quiet' exhaust for now.

There was a lot of talk about this on the Tuscan e-group at one time with people sleveing the orignal cans.Although I have heard of cars going back to the factory for engine work with no cans fitted as the sleves could not be removed from the cans ,and there was no dispute over warranty.

Perhaps changing the cans on the Tuscan has less effect on the engine than changing the rear silencer on the Tamora?

If I could change the Tamora exhaust without invalidating the warranty, I'd do it tomorrow.

Our system and cans should present no warranty implications whatsoever as the system is the same as the Tuscan 'S'. As regards the insurance question I suppose it is always best to make your insurance company aware of any changes, you wouldn't for example fit £2,000 worth of hi-fi gear and not tell them would you?
