How do I stop the seatbelts locking?
Discussion
The seatbelt reel housings apparantly are mounted 90 degree to the normal orientation, which means that cambers cause more of a problem then facing up or down hill. This is a pain as the most common time to pull the belt out is when moving away from the kebside - which are invariably on a camber....

I removed the balance device that causes the belt to lock up. Take the drivers seat out (4 bolts), remove screws on the panel that covers the belt mechanism and carefully peel it back, remove the belt mechanism (one bolt 5/8 AF I think. When the mechanism is out you will see the balance device. It is a little brass barrel that locks a pin into a ratchet when it tilts. It is easy to remove it and it's removal does not affect the usual centrifugal locking mechanism. The only difficult bit is removing the big bolt that holds the belt mechanism. I had to cut a spanner to get onto the nut. It all goes back easier though. the whole job will take a couple of hours.

My drvier-side belt is totally jammed since the garagist test-drove the Tuscan last Friday.
Another thread suggests reversing fast and slamming on brakes - sounds like a plan to me. But was wondering if anyone has a view on the above sugestion?

Er, just pull it really hard, and then release it while on a flat surface and it should release...
On investigating my passenger side belt - which locked up leaving no slack whatsoever - I found that some clever factory type (I presume*) had managed to loop an electrical wire through so that it seemed to get caught as it retracted!
Overall I think that's only one factor in the multi-irrational-TVR-seatbelt-universe!
(*It's only a presumption based on the fact that my sound system was factory fitted - and I can't see why any one else would have re-routed a wire to loop through the seatbelt!)
