I've just booked my car in for a quick once over before the warranty expires. 2 issues are self-explanatory - passenger door needs realigning v slightly and door window not going up and down smoothly.

However, the other matter has left me stumped and I wondered whether anyone had any ideas - sometimes, if I accelerate quickly from standstill in first gear the car judders slightly, almost like the clutch isn't biting. However, given that its almost a year old I'd expect the clutch to have bedded in by now.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

YES!....Had the same thing in my Cerbera S6 you raise the clutch in first gear the car goes but it feels strange...like a judder but more like a staggered slip of the clutch only very slight but you notice it only happens in 1ST....it happened when I had a new clutch fitted to the Cerb I informed the dealer and they said it wasnt a problem...have a Tuscan S just been delivered the dealer I part X'd the cerbera didnt pick up on the clutch problem....it will be interesting to find out what your dealer says....

Ok, how stupid am I?

Took it in yesterday and it was actually diagnosed as pinking. So now I know what everyone keeps talking about.

Didn't seem to be doing it on the way home so hopefully that's that then. I use 95 Ron fuel (as it says in the manual) which they told me was right so not sure what it was.

Surely this isn't another case of "they all do that sir"?

I suggest you use Super, or even better, optimax.

I doubt very much whether pinking is what led to the clutch judder. Pinking is pre-ignition where your ignition timing (or some times cam timing) is out or you plugs are running way too hot and consequently the air/fuel mixture is ignited too early. This is uinlikely to make the car judder signigicantly and would be more noticable when labouring in a higher gear.

What you have is more likely an engine mount failure or a diff bush failure. These stop the car dpoing exactly what you describe and normally only occurs in 1st gear on take off.
