Passenger window won't shut!!

Had a new windscreen fitted today, and the muppets must have been playing with all the nice shiny buttons! Result : Passenger window will now only close half way and 'door open' warning shows on dash when turning ignition on although they're both shut.

Car lives outside - can anyone help PLEASE?!!

Try removing the chrome door catch cover, and check to see if the door catch bolts are loose, or the microswitch lever may need adjusted

Probably not the reason, however, I had problems with windows jamming and the display throwing spurious messages when the battery was almost flat. Left it charging through a battery conditioner for two days and have never had the problem repeated.....

If your windows playing up, it will probably need a new door encoder. Common problem - they tend to get wet or stuck.

I found that closing the door gently worked sometimes otherwise put your arm through the door and quickly do the window up and get your arm out before surefire embarrasement follows.

Microswitch behind the door catch plate. Very easy to get to, just 2/3 small screws. I had this problem all the time. The microswitch just needs adjusting (reshape using a screwdriver or pliers). You will laugh when you see how crude the design is.... and understand why they always need adjusting.

Good luck.
If both windows start doing it then get your dealer to replace the encoder.

Thanks everyone for replies - especially Bill Gates!

Popped into my dealer this morning and they fixed it in 10 minutes - it was the microswitch!
