Am I right in thinking that any 2002 4.0 Tuscan must be an 'S'?
When did the standard car become a 3.6, was it at the same time that the S came out or was there a cross over period.

Also, what do you think the chances would be of getting an S without the ugly rear end, ie. without the spoiler and with the lights in the normal Tuscan positions?

I belive you can stil order a new "standard" 4 litre Tuscan so a 2002 car can be an S or a standard car.

Hi Mark, a bit confusing this but no, you cannot assume that any 2002 4.0l Tuscan is an S.
When TVR announced that the base Tuscan would be a 3.6l they still had a load of standard 4.0l engines left so continued to make the base Tuscan as a 4.0l.
As far as I know all Tuscan Ss have the changed rear and front splitter? As it's not just the engine size that differentiates them as there are many other changes as well, eg. suspensions, etc.
The confusing bit may be the precursors to the Tuscan S which were simply called the Tuscan with Red Rose spec. This was vusually the same as the Tuscan but had the mechanics of the latter Tuscan S.
Cheers..... Andrew

Ours is a Sept 2002 car. We were told we had the choice 4 litre or 3.6. We were recommended to take the 4litre, which we did. Supposed to be one of the last available. Not an "S" though. "S" puts out 390bhp, havent seen figs for 4 litre. Suppose its somewhere in between 390 & quoted 360 for the 3.6!!

I think the standard 4.0l Tuscan is 360bhp and the 3.6l 350bhp which is the same as the Tamora/T350C.

4.0l Speed Six Cerbera = 350bhp
4.0l Tuscan = 360bhp
4.0l Red Rose Tuscan = 380bhp
4.0l Tuscan S = 390bhp
3.6l Tuscan/Tamora/T350c = 350bhp

Confusing, eh!

Mine's a standard June 2002 car with the 3996cc (4 litre) engine. Whilst I was buying it I spotted an S without the 'ugly' rear spoiler at the dealer. This, he told me was an earlier car built before they had sorted the later S's rear spoiler and lighting configuration.

It makes sense that the supply of standard 4 litle engines is drying up as the latest models come with the 3.6 (as in the Tamora) or the S with the tuned 4 litre version. Therefore it doesn't make sense to keep a stock of 'old' 4 litre lumps lying around as well. They may have to rebuild a few though

I have a Jan 2003 standard Tuscan with 4.0 litre engine. My dealer had cars on order for later in 2003 also with 4.0 litre engines.
