In summary, loads on the cam are highest when idling. When warming your engine up, get some rpm into it e.g. drive it carefully don't let it stand.

The handbook for my Porsche specifically says to drive off steadily when cold not leave it idling. I guess if the oil flow to the valve train is at all borderline then idling, when less oil is being pumped round, will be the worst thing for it.
