2000 Tuscan heater is not blowing hot. Fans/air-con works and I can hear the fan stepper motor(new about a year ago) working when I change the dial to hot, but it's still blowing cool air. I unplugged the heater control ECU under the passenger dash and all pins and plug look fine not burnt etc

Not used the heater for a while, normally I would run it every couple of weeks out of habit to check it's all working, but neglected to do this over the last few months.

Anyone got any ideas?

cheers

cheers, sounds like a job for me smile

I assume the flap is by the stepper motor which I thinks under the large pipe thing under the scuttle? Bastard, had it all in bits the other weekend to fit my CF cam insert...will see if I have time this weekend. Who needs a heater anyway.

Anyone got any pictures or five minutes to write me a quick step-by-step?

(I've got the same problem!)

Cheers,

FT.

Sorry I am not helping, I have the same problem. If you managed to fix it the weekend can you post the cure. The large pipe thing you refer to is that under the main bonnet on the bulkhead (is that the scuttle) and do you have to remove the apron thing that runs across under the windscreen. In the meantime if I manage to fix my heater I will let you know.
good luck

I've not had time to try to fix it yet, but will take some photos when I do.

Yes, bonnet off, then remove scuttle panel from bottom of windscreen. (remove wipers and two retaining nuts, then two screws, one each side at bottom of panel, disconnect wiper hoses, then should lift off, maybe a little bit of glue holding it in places.

Then I hope it's a case of removing the big pipe thing on the n/s bottom of windscreen and stepper motor and stuck vent is in there.

cheers, can hear the stepper motor working when I turn the dial to hot, so I assume it is my flap that is stuck. I will check that first, as I don't have handy access to a spare heater ECU, so may as well check for a stuck flap first.

If the stepper motor is working the flap should be operating unless the grub screw on the lever that opens the flap and connects to the motor spindle is loose or the gearbox on the motor is knackerd. I had to cut through a thick bead of silicone sealer up inside the passenger footwell to remove the big pipe. Let us know how you get on.

Thanks, I did pop in as they are local to me, he couldnt help with the earlier ecu. Suggested swapping the heater knobs box end for a later one, as i have a 489 ecu, may be a few wires to change but the center consol is easier to find at the breakers, well in theroy!

Well I had a crack at getting to my stuck flap this afternoon, bonnet off, scuttle panel/apron/cowl (whatever you want to call it) off, went to remove the o/s big pipe where I believe the stepper motor and flap are, removed the 4 screws around the base but it was well and truely stuck down with black silicon, and since I had none and was runing out of time and daylight, I decided against going further today. Funnily enough it sounds like the flap is now unstuck, as I can hear it moving now in stages rather than just a buzzing noise before. Need to drive it and test, if still stuck then I will buy some black silicon and have another go.

The n/s big pipe seems to contain the aircon stuff.

Bonnet and wipers off.

Scuttle panel off.
