Heater not hot

What noise am i listening for regarding stepper motor and flap?

Currently:
All lights work on the knobs
cold air blows well
i push the heat up and it pauses then starts again
shifts the air direction fine
air is not hot
Borrowed an ECU and it made no difference.

next steps?

Main bonnet off
Scuttle panel off
Remove heater matrix (on the NS)
Underneath is the stuck flap
WD40

Would be good to see some photos as you go.

My heater is very similar to what you've described though fortunately at the moment it does still blow hot air - after a pause...
