I haven't received mine yet. Is the bolt hole spacing different where fixes to the car? Did you need to drill new holes or just enlarge a bit.
Drilled one new hole each side, there's appx 1/4" difference in the hole spacing.

I doubt that the original clips were all diffferent, and the two of us that've posted about fitting the raceproved ones have had to elongate/drill new holes.........
Strange - Has anyone else fitted them? I can't see why they would go to all this effort and then make the holes a different width. I don't really fancy adding holes.

Did you use the bolts they supplied? If so how did you get the back of them to fit the nuts?
Yes.

Pull the boot carpet away & you can get to the back of the bolts.
Thanks have had a better look now.

I had a look at some pictures of the clip from my previous MK1 2000 model and it does seem the holes are slightly higher on my 2006 MK2.

I don't know which template was used.

Does this new clip also stop the window from squeaking as it's more securely held?

just popping out to fit mine now!

Will report back shortly...

That was quick!, less than 10 mins.

I cheated a bit and used the original self-tapping screws to fit them rather than the nuts and bolts they come with. I didnt fancy pulling all the carpet back to get to the back of the clips.

Seems to be pretty solid, definitely hold the window down MUCH tighter than the standard clips, both fit fine.

Should add, I also didnt use the clear platic/rubber stopper things it comes with, I dont think it would close properly if I put them on as they are quite thick. I'm not going to loose any sleep if the window gets some scratches where the clip holds it, nobody ever sees this bit anyway!

Stick some velcro (soft part) on the clips to stop them marking the screen.

Thanks, I'll give that a try!

I went for a blast earlier, sorry to report the screen still squeaks, not as bad as it did, but its still there.

Time to lube up the rubber surrounds again! smile

I find most of the squeakyness of the window comes from where the boot lid meets the back window.

Does on mine (which has velcro on the underside of the boot lid & was squeaking with the old clips).

Fitted the clips this morning, no re-drilling required also used the orignal self tappers. I used a bit of velcro on the contact point with the screen. They are just so much better than the orignal plastic ones which were bent to the extent of touching the boot lid. Well done Raceproved/Clever Trevor.

Hi Nick- did you fit the clips to your mk2? I spoke to raceprove and apparently you need to fix the new clips using bolts and they weren't sure if it was possible to get access on a mk2. I can't see how i can do that on mine without pulling the carpet off in my boot, even then i'm not sure if i'll be able to get to the back of where the clips screw in. Can you let me know how you fixed the clips and whether you'd recomend them for a mk2 tuscan?

Many thanks
John

John the clips are fitted to my 2006 MK2 Tuscan S, to use the bolts they supply you would have to remove part of the boot carpet something I did not really want to do as it is very well fitted.IMO the self tappers that were in my original clips are quiet adequate for fixing the new clips and they are very solidly fitted.

I would definitely recommend them not just on an aesthetics point, the rear screen is easier to re-fit centrally as the clips can be just nipped up to allow the screen to move around until in the correct position, the screen is now a better fit to the seal reducing wind noise and I am sure they will be more capable of keeping the rear screen safely in place.

While they do look nice it's the hassle of using an allen key that puts me off. When I actually need some of these I might see if they will do a similar type tightening thingy like on the original for me.

Also I understood that the reason some of the screens blew out is the self tappers on the originals coming loose, so maybe it is best to use the bolts.

The filler cap was the standard factory fit in 2006 for the Tuscan Targa, it's the same as the Tuscan convertible

I was just thinking the same thing! I assume you've got that crappy black plastic cap?

Just received mine and spotted this - agree with Whitey... Does a bolt same diameter exist in nipple-ring fashion, down B&Q or likes...? (otherwise they r v.nice indeed)

Had some new clips delivered recently.
The bolt positions don't line up with the old ones on my '03 Tuscan.

Anyone (Leadfoot, Wishy?) with tips on positioning them before I take a drill to my baby?

I used one existing hole & elongated the other to line up with the new clip (both needed enlarging for the supplied bolts to fit).
