Beaten by an M3 ?
Discussion
Er ... nope. Tuscan can't have been ready or trying.
I had a head to head with a new model M3 recently from 30 mph to 'ahem' 120ish on a dual carriageway (came off a roundabout together). It was a dead heat, and he was really trying - he was 2 cars lengths ahead all the way and I could see him smokin' on the upchanges.
and I've got a 4.0L Chimaera.

Kept getting bated by one of these knobs over a period of about 3 months at lights on dual carriageway, don't usually take the bate, BUT...., couple of nights ago met him at lights in his newish M3 and wanting to get home for the footy showed him my arse (rather my Tuscans'). Next night same place, same time, must of been somebody diff driving, coz he didn't rev, inch forward, look etc. I couldn't even hear his shite music.

Just checking.....
I have a Tuscan of my own and keep telling him his M3 won't be quicker. He likes to wind me up !
He has said that it was wet and traction was poor so conditions were perfect for the computers on board his German machine.
I'm guessing it would have been a load more fun inside the Tuscan even so !

At our last meet Martin Crimes aka Swordfish spoke about a little play with a M5, he had to hit all change up lights just to keep up now you could say that his car is unwell however i`ve been in convoy with Martin and his car has the same performance as mine and he doesn`t hang around the M3 is surposed to be quicker still maybe a "tuned" M5 or are they that quick

Be very suprised if a normal Tuscan pulled away from a new M3

Why?
M3: Power - 343bhp, weight - 1500kg, 0-60 - 5.2
Standard Tuscan: Power - 350, weight - 1100 kg, 0-60 - 4.2
Tuscan S: Power - 390bhp, weight - 1100 kg, 0-60 - 3.9
On all counts, even the standard Tuscan out-guns the M3.
A Tuscan, standard or S in the dry in a straight line sprint will spank an M3.

From those numbers I reckon it must have been some sort of highly tuned M5 then.. It surprised the heck out of me as it was slowly pulling away from me up a dual-carriageway & it only had about a 1-2 second head start on me out of the roundabout
Couldn't possibly remember what speed I might hypothetically have reached before I decided to back off, but I'd imagine it could have been quite a way beyond the quoted stats above.. ahem

In reality, on the road there would be little between it - Both cars would remain very close to eachother
Never driven an M3, I can't comment on how an M3 performs on the road, but I'd be very surprised if this was the case.
A couple of the guys on here have owned both types of car though, and they all agree that the Tuscan is in a different class, so I don't understand why you think they would be similar?
I see both sides of the 'argument' on this one, but know that under controlled conditions, the Tuscan would certainly have it. On the other hand, look on Top Gear to see how little difference there is between cars around an entire lap - with bends, braking, and staying on the tarmac. Then on public roads there is: plod, 3rd party perception, not crashing etc to take into account. I would resist taking the bait against an M3 andnot even try - I don't have anything to prove, I know how quick the Tuscan is, and don't want to go to jail as by sod's law, I'd get caught. I did race a Ferrari 355 once along with a 450 SEAC and we both gave him a good spanking. So how fast is a 355 compared to a new M3 then?
