Beaten by an M3 ?
Discussion
The autocar figures flattered the tuscan S, TVR sent it on super sticky toyo tyres and you've got to get the launch exactly right to get those times.
What's the betting TVR didn't play fair with the engine either?
I suspect that in the dry the tusc would be the victor, but on anything other than perfect tarmac I'd bet on the Beemer .. plus the M3 looks fantastic.

To be fair the Tuscan has achieved very similar figures on normal tyres(Auto Express)
Edit: I obviously can't spell tyres

A chap in my office reckons he beat a Tusc in his M3 from the lights on the A4 at 02:00 this morning. Anyone from here ?
I think it was my mother in her Tuscan (she's 69) but she only has one arm and drives everywhere in first... oh yes and she was on the phone at the time so she was steering with one knee.
Anyway, she said it doesn't really matter how fast one of those BMW's are... you still look like a w4nker in one.
I know, I know, her language is terrible!
Joolz quote ".. plus the M3 looks fantastic. "
If so,then so do the 316,318,320,323,325,330,330td and all other boxes in between....what's a spoiler or two between boxes?
P.S. joolz, we may disagree on what looks better, a box or a Tuscan, but you is still the man

Yeah, if you like that souped up family saloon type thang, but it's nothing compared to a Tuscan (or any TVR for that matter).
Besides - this argument is pretty pointless, as the most important factor is the driver - is he Schumacher or Baumgartner? Does he have gonads the size of grapes or of water melons? Does he treasure his driving license or is he willing to take to the bus for the sake of one more traffic light grand prix?
Given exactly the same conditions and the same driver, I'd bet money that the Tuscan would be quicker, but life is never like that so anything is possible... Whatever the outcome, I know who would go home with the bigger grin though!
Besides, at 155 the BMW stops here and the Tuscan goes on.
I had a blast once with an M3. The 'made up for these posting speeds were' Me 110 BMW finally pulls alongside and then I droped a gear and off I went. I did feel sorry for him he looked like he wast desperatly trying to impress his new girlie...
Up to the imaganary 110mph there was no competition. I had to slow down to let him catch up.

I'm with Mungo - in the wet the M3 would win. Decent traction control is worth far more than a few more BHP.
Ah yes but either take away the traction control from the BMW or put one into the Tuscan and all things being equal the Tuscan would be miles ahead of the BMW I would rather have a pure sports car (drivers car)...not some computer controlled box.
Alan.
Just been reminded of this thread.
Tuscan is faster when stopped!!
Another frantically busy monday morning.
Been sitting looking out of window with mate( both with hangovers re: glorious Rugby victory)at my tuscan parked outside in car park next to new M3.
In last 30 mins or so had 6 dif people do the usual walk round, look inside (wait for alarm to go off)etc not one even noticed the boring silver thing next to me.
Waiting to see what M3 driver thinks/does when he comes back to car.

I've driven both and the M3 is not what I would call a fast car. An ordinary 911 feels faster than an M3 as well btw. As for wet day + traction control - if you've driving so fast that you need such things on the road you need your head examined - straight line performance is all that matters on the road - if your delving into cornering limits you're going TOO FAST!
Cheers,
Andy.
