Just been told both my back lights are not illuminating. Brake lights still working. Also appears side lights at front are not coming on. Not sure if related. Looked at fuse/relay diagram but appears there isnt a seperate fuse for rear lights. Fuses are fine. I have removed the dash and reconnected the main connector and white connector to the light switch but nothing. Any ideas what might be the cause?

Switch maybe? any juice at the bulb end, what happens when you switch to dipped headlights. Do we have an ECU for the lights? it seems everything else does. I know there is a relay splice under the dash somewhere, I think the lights run through this.

Switch seems to illuminate on position 1 and 2 but no lights come on externally on position 1. No change when I switch to dipped headlights. Not sure about an ECU. The fog light works but no number plate, rear or side lights and the reverse light doesn't work either.
The brake lights, indicators and main beam lights all work though as does the interior boot light.

I think the cable to the light switch is a ribbon type, have you checked that all the joints/connections are good? When I replaced my LCD display I broke one and had to solder it back together.

Yes, had a look at the joints, all seem ok. Connections seem fine as well. Thanks.

Sorry didn't make it clear, by bulb I mean at the light, not the switch end.

The problem blueg33 had was fixed by changing the dash pcb, as the relay can sometimes fail.

His problem was similar to mine although he had no problem with the reverse light not working. Reverse could be unrelated and may be when I had the heatsink fitted.

I have the car booked in with Carl Baker next week so hoping to find if this is the problem. It makes sense that it would be though.

Mine was fixed, it required a new pcb in the pod. The pcb furthest from the steering wheel is for lights (apparently) and has soldered on relays which can fail. Not many people stock the soldered on relays I am told as the minimum order is several thousand!

That means it's going to be pricey then?

David Gerald charged me £100 for the part plus about an hours labour plus VAT. I think the usual TVR pod repair person is one of the people that has the relays, they are only a couple of pounds each.

Most dealers will be able to send off just the one board (if that is the part that's at fault) Personally I think all of the basic things need checking and rechecking first

Relays
Fuses
Connections to pod
connections to switch
connections to fuse box

If I hadnt been really busy at the moment I would have got the multimeter out and checked it all myself as it isnt especially hard to check the basic stuff

Thanks, will double check all connections, fuses and relays and then have a phone around. Cheers!

Just tried the new A board...nothing, only front lights, no side lights!
The switch doesn't illuminate with the new board so it seems there may be a fault with this one and my one is ok. Back to the drawing board!

TVR power have a rig that tests all the functions of the pod, it might be worth trying them.

Double and triple check that fuses and relays are in the right slots. Because you have to lie on your back, bent like a contortionist with a torch fuses etc can easily be in the wrong slots or missing.

Apart from that, I am struggling to advise now

Unfortunately I'm 3.5 hours away from TVR Power. I have just checked in the footwell and found this lead that I am sure should be connected to something, Any ideas?

That one is higher up under the dash, this one is down in the footwell.

Thanks for all your input Nick, much appreciated.

It's so strange, the switch lights up in position 1 so there is power but no sound of a relay and no sidelights, whereas in position 2 there is a click from the relay and main beam. I've just swapped the relay with the main beam relay and still nothing. I've swapped the pcb in the dash but nothing so it can't be the dash relay. I've changed the fuses so it can't be that either.

What on earth can it be? Could be an earthing problem!

One positive is that the reverse light works when I press the switch so just need to adjust the striker...small mercies!

I'm going to have to admit defeat and take it to a specialist.
