Hi All,

Car in tomorrow with surface and design for the flip bonnet mod tomorrow. Looking forward to being able to get under and clean without major surgery and quite a few expletives !! First in a long road of restorations. Fingers crossed and it will be the interior next !!

Hi Chris,

I will let you know the exact damage once I get her back, I'm having a few more bits done aswell.
Doesn't help having D&C trim in the same place, all that lovely NEW SHINY leather and carpet and with her interior looking soooooo shabby frown What do I do confused

Go for it,Dave and Chris will do a good job. Don't forget the cover for your heat exchanger boxes, looks so much better.

Hi Glowworm,
I went for the whole lot, paint the underide of the bonnet and also the heater box cover. As for the leather the choice of what the boys there can do is mind boggling. If anyone has any recomendations on colour schemes I would appreciate them. She is a Mk1 in Cristal Topaz, wheels done in medium anthrasite and to break up the exterior I had the grille done the same as wheels. I think for the interior I may go with anthrasite carpeting piped in portland grey, with a mixture of portland grey and antrasite leather, with contrasting stitching. The guys aslo mentioned roof lining and door cards, TVR logo in the seat head rests or seat backs, superior fitting seat backs........ahhhhhh overload..confused

Do I get the service done first ? Last one 12k at STR8SIX revealed wear and possible rebuild in the
future.. Do I just get the interior done have the service and see what happens....

You're a brave man if you spend thousands on the interior without first checking if you need to spend £7k+ on engine work!

Get them both done smile

Good luck - hope it's nothing serious. Even if it is, the car will just come back faster and stronger!

Hi All

Could Rhino1 advise how much his bonnet mod was please - assuming he's had his car back. Or indeed anyone really whose recently had theirs done, cost and by whom. I'm interested in having mine done.

Cheers
Chris

That's quite pricey IMO, must be a lot involved. Even if I charge my self out at £10 per hour then I can remove the bonnet 964 times for that price allowing 5 mins to remove smile (I know, its a silly pointless calculation, I would love to do the cvonversion, removing the bonnet on your own requires precise handling

There is a thread somewhere on DIY bonnet mods and doesn't seem too complex iirc (might be wrong). This is on my list of planned mods, was going to get a local guy who did the ouriggers on my chim to have a go as think there is some degree of fabrication to make the hinges.

Getting the bonnet off isnt an issue for me (got long arms) the issue I have is getting the damn thing back on without help and then getting the back pins to line up. I sware the guy who did mine went by eye sight or something!

Stainless Gas struts alone cost about £100 ... Other than yourself ... Which other business charges £10 per hour ? frown
What price for a respray if you cause damage ?
