10 years in storage
6 weeks in the shop being fettled for service
Finally I get down to the garage to pay the bill and pick up the Vit'...

"erm, we have a problem..."

Some local youth has broken into the car the night before, mullered the ignition lock/barrel and wiring, destroyed the lock on the filler cap and the boot lock. No way of firing it up, just to even hear the car or the first time in 4 or 5 years.

The individual is known to the garage, and the local 5-0 (who, by midday, still hadn't made an appearance) and has even been caught by the police in the middle of one of his previous 'visits'. Little sh1t.

So, still SD1-less...

Sorry to hear that Tony, but if it's any consolation Rimmer Bros have just imported 600 SD1s in kit form and are offering complete key and lock sets for very little money.

However, should you require a back axle parts they are completely out of stock! rolleyes

Cheers Dan, I did read about Rimmer buying the contents of the Standard Cars factory - apparently it's possible to build a brand new SD1, if you have a bare shell to start with! The garage looking after the car will source the replacement lock set...and pay for it.

Just read about your back axle problem - have you tried the owners' club site or mag?

That is awful. Comiserations. Rimmers have a fantastic ammount of kit. You really could build one from scratch.
Is the garage any good? Are they sensibly priced? I have an SD1 needing lots of work...where did you get yours done?
I might do a seperate post later on.
Cheers.

Mine is at a small independent in the New Forest, they do a lot of LR/Range Rover work as well as older cars and classics (as an example, when I dropped by the other day there was an E30 M3, an MGB and a Minor in for work) - good rates, too. What does yours need?

Lock set problem overshadowed by S-shaped pushrod that was presented to me on Friday...now fixed...but highlighting a fuel starvation issue now. Whose idea was this?
