Hello, wrong place to ask i know but i am having a mega blonde moment with a mk1 fiesta, realising that most of you have already closed this item, however anyone left who can help i will be eternally grateful.

I let my wife use my mk1 fiesta for three days while i attacked the mot on her galaxy, and she managed to break it, the lack of power and rattle turned out to be bottom end damage so out came the engine and in went an 1100cc one from an f plate mk2, low mileage great wonderful hooray, Well no actually, you see ford decided to change the gearbox mount, engine mounts, exhaust angle, inner cv's, wiring and so on and so forth, i have worked through everything apart from the electronic ignition, i just pulled my points/condenser one out of my old engine and bunged it in. I didn't mark anything i just went on the theory that if the vacuum unit was roughly pointing in the right direction as the old one was, i was in with a fighting chance, okay now you can stop laughing because you know that was a stupid act on my part, and the dear old fiesta won't bloody start, i have spark, and points open and close well, but the thing won't start, or even attempt to cough a little. HOw in simple terms can i correctly time in a distributor, or can someone tell me how to wire up the electronic one thats currently sat in the boot????.

Meanwhile while the fiesta is sat in shame i am having a whale of a time in a datsun 120y two door!!!!!!!! rear wheel drive, 60bhp @6000rpm, its not exactly sideways city every roundabout, but i am praying for rain or ice every morning!!!!! thanks in advance Mark

I know nothing about electronic ignition but if memory serves, seting up a dizzy, turn the engine until number 1 is at TDC - should perhaps be able to see the timing mark on the flywheel, the rotor arm on the dizzy should then be pointing at the plug lead contact for number 1
could be wrong but how long would it take to check it out!
