Rimac Concept One
Discussion
Interesting car from Croatia, all-electric with some pretty impressive figures (The guy who designed it, Mate Rimac, is only 23!). It apparently was the star of the Frankfurt Motor show last autumn, I'm not sure why no-one has reported this on here already - unless, of course, I'm very late... And personally, I think it looks lovely!
Raw provisional figures:
Four electric motors spinning at up to 12,000rpm
Max Power: 1088hp
Max Torque: 3800Nm (approx 2800lb/ft)
Battery capacity: 92kWh
Top Speed: 305kph (approx 182mph)
Range: 366 miles approx.
0-60: 2.8sec
It features something called All Wheel Vectoring and naturally comes with a carbon-fibre body, LED lighting etc. The price is said to be around £650,000 (hey, who said cutting edge was cheap!?) and they are apparently only making 88 of them. Somehow, I have a feeling that this guy might actually pull it off - the cars design was done by ex-Pininfarina blokes and he's got a truckload of investment cash behind him. His initial effort was a modified E30 BMW M3 he used to race; the engine blew and he decided to replace it with an electric alternative. Performance figures for that toy are as follows...
Power output (wheels): 404 kW / 550 WHP
Power output (motor): 441 kW / 600 HP
Torque: 900 Nm
Weight: 1150 kg
Stored energy: 24 kWh
Charging time (0%-100%): 20 min (If the source is 220V/350Amp)
Range: 180 km
0-100kph: 3.3 sec.
¼ Mile time: 11.3 sec.
Max. speed: 280 kph
