Moneys the motive. Police, solicitors, insurance companies all get paid out for referrals etc. Its such a scam, claim companies harrasing people by texting and ringing them all day asking them to make a claim, even if the accident has happened years ago. Then you have the cost of fixing the car while it is in the garage, ridicuolous, and then other costs such as hire costs.
Also you see adverts everywhere telling us to make a quick claim, such as the baastards from injury 'lawyers' from you, and that little prick from national accident helpine. Its easy money for some people. Been in accident, quickly make a false claim for whiplash(not saying whiplash doen't happen at all) and put some money in their pockets, then they claim that their insurance is too high. Also insurance companies go on like their the 'victims', getting done over by people making false claims, but their thieves themselves, they should use common sense, but obviously once money comes into the equation common sense becomes rare.
Does anyone believe there is a chance that car insurance will ever go down?
As a 17 year old and hopefully looking to pass before my 18th, getting my first car seems to be exciting to me anymore now, more chance of me becoming President than getting a sensible quote.

The Insurance companies should put their own house in order.
I recently had a serious accident with my Merc written off by some fool driving onto the wrong side of the road. Even though my insurers were claiming off the other persons policy, my insurers handled my claim in the most appauling manner trying their best to grossly undervalue my car. I suffered really bad back and neck stiffness and pain, but being of the old school I was not going to make any claim. Solely due to my insurers behaving in such a bad manner I decided in fact to make a claim in order to receive that which was due.
I was paid several thousand pounds . Had my insurers been honest, customer friendly, helpful and willing to listen, then no claim would have been made. I would have put up with the pain, got over it, and would still be a customer rather than absolutely NOT being a customer.
Message to insurers: treat your customers better. Stop trying to rip us off. Get rid of the inoccuous referal fee system. Stop twisting the small print in your favour at all costs. Just behave in a reasonable way.

I find that really shocking - that's a huge percent of the insured population. How many of those are real? perhaps 70,000 to 100,000?
What's the payment for though? I've had whiplash a few times in my life - the only thing that money would be good for is physio and massage. Why don't they just pay an approved physio directly for treatment and stop peopling buy shiny new Macs on others peoples expense? Part of most compensation will be for rehab and Physio. It all depends on what was recomended from the Doctor who did the medical. A lot of firms of Solicitors are now doing physio right from the outset of the claim or within days of the accident. This gives pain relief and a better long term prognosis
