SORN now indefinite

Received a V11 reminder to either TAX or declare SORN. I went online and it seems SORN is now indefinite and I cannot re declare having typed in the 16 digit number the error message appears "vehicle details not found" so the reminder is for what exactly and will I get an annual re tax reminder from now on?

Have you done a vehicle enquiry? SORN only went indefinite this Monday.

I had exactly the same response/reaction from the website.
Can only 'assume' (dangerous I know when dealing with DVLA) the V11 is now sent out if you wish to tax the vehicle - either way far from clear and concise comms from DVLA.

Same here, tried the phone line which is tedious and boring and had the same result.
Agree with you, it is about as clear as dishwater what to do when you receive a V11 which says at the top in bold letters "REMINDER TO GET A TAX DISC OR SORN" or go to jail, do not pass go and do not collect £200

In red box "your sorn runs out on 31st January"

under this "rules may change see details at www.gov.uk/sorn" bugger all on the website apart from "page not found" Brilliant!

Same here: Received a V11 to tell me that my SORN Expires on January 31st 2014 but my application to renew it was rejected by Phone, so fearing the worse that I had forgotten to SORN my Car last year (which I hadn't!)

I wasted hours going up on the loft to try and find the acknowledgement from last year.

What I don't have is a communication from the DVLA to tell me that my SORN that runs out on January 31st 2014 actually doesn't run out at all and is now indefinite!

Don't you just love those guys for putting our minds at rest (Not) and making it all so clear!

They've clearly managed to properly break the previously reliable SORN side of the tax reminder system...

I've just received a reminder for one of ours. It's currently SORNed. OK, they shouldn't have sent the reminder. EXCEPT they shouldn't have sent it now anyway - it was taxed until the end Jan, but we cashed the tax back and SORNed it in October...
