New Toyota FR coupe-hatch in development

Supposedly toyota are developing a ground up sports car to sit below the 86. In house development code is 69dz. The car is set to weigh 980kg and the engine will produce circa 130hp from a 1.5l NA inline 4 (designated 2nr-fke), which is being codeveloped by yamaha (win). The dimensions are similar to the 86 but it is supposedly slightly shorter in length and slightly taller in height. It is due to sell in Japan for something in the region of £9k-10k from 2017.

Being a big fan of the ae86 this is big news for me and personally I hope this comes to the UK as it really will be a truly affordable rwd car. Check out motoring.au for more info or Google toyota 69dz if you can read Japanese!
